I am also thinking of using the "Deadly Re-Entry" mod but one worry is if a command pod has to have some sort of bolt-on oxygen tank for the kerbal to survive, won't it burn up during re-entry and kill him? However, someone said you can mod a part such as a fuel tank to make it into an oxygen tank, so that might be fixable. TAC LS appears to have a small amount of resources in a command pod, which makes sense for short duration kerbin orbit missions, but I have heard that the addon parts are not very nice looking. I tried ECLSS and though it looks interesting it seems a bit limited in parts - the only "inline" oxygen tanks for instance are huge and only suitable for large diameter rockets, and there is no default small amount of oxygen in a command pod - the kerbal just dies instantly as soon as you reach about 13km above Kerbin. I am aware of a number of mods for this, namely Ironcross, TAC LS and ECLSS. The main thing that would enhance my enjoyment of KSP is if kerbals required oxygen, water, food etc.
